Rose is a Danish author and journalist. In 2005, in an exploration of self-censorship in Denmark, Rose commissioned a series of cartoons, some depicting the prophet Muhammad, for Jyllands-Posten. The controversial cartoons led to demonstrations in the Middle East, several Danish embassies were attacked, and Jyllands-Posten’s employees faced death threats. In 2010, Rose released “Tyranny of Silence,” a book that explores the cartoon crisis and its ramifications from a global perspective.
